Gamewatches

Every year, thanks to the time zone difference, alumni and friends of Notre Dame meet in the dark of the morning throughout the football season, and cheer on the Irish!

The Club includes ND fans of different ages and nationalities including military men and women, financiers, diplomats, educators, even a former G-man! We host gamewatches every year. For those who are new to the Club, here’s how it works:

We send emails to everyone whose address has been added to our listserv. The New Sanno U.S. military hotel in Hiroo often generously hosts our gamewatches in their lounge, provided that the game is broadcast live on the Armed Forces Network (up to the discretion of the Armed Forces Network (AFN) programmers, start praying now); everybody RSVPs well ahead of time, and brings a passport or Japanese ID on gameday; nobody gets in the way of the military or annoys the staff.

For games that aren’t broadcast on AFN, we try and invade the house of a club member. If you’ve got a living room of decent size and a means to get the broadcast, by all means please do let the Club’s Football Commissioner know.
